Debat Perpaduan dan Integrasi Nasional 2009

My first intra-varsity debate
n its in de MALAY language!

haha

went to UNIMAS last week for dis debate

before dat had been training for around 1 week

FIRST DAY:

3 rounds for de first day

unfortunately lost to UTM in de first round

tot we could win, but de judges voted 2-1 against us

kinda disappointed, esp me

coz my team members r both seniors n they r de defending champion of Debat Diraja (highest level of malay debate)

de first speaker is even de champion for pidato antarabangsa, n de third is de best speaker for de Debat Diraja

all considered veteran la

so i was a lil down after de first round

but we managed to bounce back,

beat UNIMAP 3-0, with a margin of 8 (maximum is 12, margin is sort of like de point difference la)

then beat UUM 3-0,with a margi of 5.67 (if im not mistaken)

sory la, ee kai n wong

SECOND DAY:

have to win all matches or at least 2 matches today to break into top 8

won de first against UKM (won 3-0)

but lost de second to UTP (lost 2-1)

dat time we were reali worried

coz if we lost de last round means we r out

but again we did our best to beat UTM (met them again after losing de first round)

dis time we beat them 3-0

so we broke into top 8, ranked at no. 5

THIRD DAY:

dis is de knock-out round day

quarters up against UPSI (ranked 4th)

we won quite comfortably (won4-1, dis time there r 4 judges)

in semis we were up againt UiTM (ranked 1st)

we lost

though it was a very close fight

de judges voted 5-0 against us, based only on de sesi penggulungan (de sesi penghujahan n bidasan was very close fight)

but still my team's 3rd speaker got de Best Speaker for dis round, although we lost

so there ends our journey

after dat all of us debaters n supporters r treated to sarawak's cultural village

damn nervous

FINAL DAY:

Finals is between UiTM n UM

but it was clearly UiTM who were de better n sronger team

n they indeed won

then it was de prize giving ceremony :)

took pics wif de UiTM team. It seems dat UPM n UiTM r good frens, owes having friendly wif each other. dats y we r close

might be joining again next yr

hopefully wif better result

dats all i guess

P/s: oh ya, i ranked 26th out of around 80 debaters. Quite happy la. Haha...

Dubai

Some short updates on my 1 week stay in Dubai !!!!
Initially we plan on going to Venice , Italy via Dubai ,
but due to some unavoidable circumstances , we have to cancel our trip to Italy
and to stay in Dubai.

This is my 2nd Trip to Dubai , the last trip was around 3 years ago...
I would say Dubai's development is so dam fast..

Remember when i was there 3 years ago ,
Dubai has no MRT services but now Dubai's MRT service will start on the 9th of september this year and will operate fully somewhere around April next year..
If i am not mistaken the MRT will cover almost every part of Dubai .

Imagine it took them onli 3 years to complete such a big project from scratch...
And we took more then 5 years jus to complete da bridge near Inderawasih....
Something for us to think about isn't it???



Well,
I WENT FOR SKING LESSON !!!!!!!!!










It was awesome !!!!
Only the instructor was not "too" friendly...
We took the Discovery class , which is the most basic of sking.
After you passed the discovery lesson ,
u will be given an achievement booklet and then you can move on to beginner lesson and so on.
I tell ya , it is as easy as it seem to be !!!


Look at my dad, it looks like he was first taught to walk.




The Atlantis Hotel

This hotel actually located in the palm shaped thingy in Dubai.
The concept of the hotel is actually a big aquarium...
Jus imagine u sleeping in a Hotel surrounded by sea creatures...
If you are looking for an underwater Hotel , this is the closest u will get ( i think ^^ )

There is a one and onli 7 start hotel in Dubai , Called the Burj al Arab
I went 3 years ago so i din go this time.




They even have piranas !!!!

Work

It's been a while since i posted something on this blog. So i'm gonna talk and rant about my work enviroment for my first post of 2009 (life wasn't interesting enough to blog about). As you all might know i started work in Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) yesterday. The logo is the only picture i can show for this whole blog. I guess company policies forbits photo taking of the internal workings of the area. For those that might not know AMD is the second largest x86 microproscessor manufacture behind Intel. I am pretty sure EVERYONE reading this post uses Intel. Recently AMD also produced Graphic Card after buying over ATI.

Firstly, i am going to say it's quite a big change for me working in a big company. The first i would like to mention is that you cannot wear your outeside shoes inside the office space. You have to change to another shoe provided by the company. I guess they really emphasize on cleanliness. The office area is huge i would say, it's divided to various department. I am assigned to the software development team (no surprise).

I've been given a nice and spacious desk to work in. Bigger than any i ever seen. The best thing is that they gave me a fujitsu laptop which i can bring home as i like to work with( i havent apply the pass yet). Food is also very cheap, the meal(Rice + Chicken + Bean Curd) i ate today only costs me 80 cents thanks to the subsidized cost by scanning your card. Yeah facilities such as gym, swimming pool, tennis court, track fiield etc. is also around the campus area.

So i've been mentioning the pros now for the cons, i felt kinda scared in the working enviroment. I have made a few friends which are new trainee like me but they are heading off the cyberjaya branch next week. I am confirmed to be in the penang branch working on softwares. So i am the only new trainee here. The team i will be working with consist of people years older than me, married people and stuff. So i feel like a baby working in the company, i felt young once again, but not in a good way lol. I felt scared because these people are older and of higher rank and i cant fool around. Oh ya, there a dude from austin, texas sitting my desk discussing some project with the members. I've been shift to a temporary position which beside my desk that is vacant too.

on a last note, there's lotsa pretty girls all over. A lot of intern in the biz and manufacturing side.
